The early years
Micron has been supplying and installing home improvement products in Kent, London and surrounding areas for over 40 years. In that time the company built a reputation as the ‘go to’ people for Aluminium windows and doors. Supplying private customers, builders, architects and developers Micron established itself as one of the number one window, door and conservatory specialists in the area.
In 2014 Micron Windows was acquired by the Joedan Group, and changed its name to Micron Home Improvements. Joedan Group, with its Head Office in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire employ over 150 staff in four strategic branches across the South of England. Joedan itself has a history spanning over 30 years and specialise in the replacement window, door and conservatory industry. Joedan Group was recognised in 2015 as one of the ‘Top 1000 Companies To Inspire Britain’ by the London Stock Exchange. The top 1000 companies featured in the report have on average doubled their turnover in the last four years, and are of exceptional importance to the UK’s economic growth and job creation. Micron in Orpington was seen as an ideal acquisition by Joedan Group, with which to further its expansion into the Kent, Surrey and South London areas.
Following the takeover in 2014, heavy investment has been made into Micron Home Improvements with the completion of a stunning new ‘living home’ showroom in Orpington. Currently there is a second, larger showroom being constructed at the same site which should bring the total display area at Micron to an amazing 10,000sqft
As well as huge investment in displays and new products, Micron has also benefited from the re-introduction of a manufacturing plant at Orpington. This will allow expansion of the Joedan Group’s manufacturing capability from Gloucestershire into the London area, and help Micron to remain one of the top window, door and conservatory companies in the South.
